Gold Mountain Celebration 2009
CACS Honor's WWII Veterans of the VFW Chung Mei Post #8358

On October 10, 2009 CACS hosted its annual Gold Mountain Celebration. This year we were proud and honored to induct the World War II Veterans of the VFW Chung Mei Post 8358 into the CACS’s Hall of Fame. The Chung Mei Post was chartered in 1946. The goal of the Post is to preserve and support the patriotic and historical interests of our country, our communities, and our veterans.

The funds raised at the event benefit CACS’s “Cares for Kids” program and “Operation Santa Claus”. These programs help our underprivileged children and their families of the Sacramento area.

Canton Footprints Wins Award

In March 2009, CACS's Canton Footpints book was awarded the prestigious Sacramento County Historical Society
"Publication Award 2008"

The community's response has been overwhelming and positive. CACS has sold almost 1500 copies of Canton Footprints during the first 3 months after it was released.

Our book has been purchased by the Sacramento Public Library, Colleges and Universities, museums, and historical societies, in California and other states. We filled orders from individuals and companies from other states as well as most of California . Many of our customers are people who used to live in Sacramento or, know someone who did. Others are interested in the history of the region. All feel Canton Footprint is an interesting and accurate account of the Chinese history in Sacramento .

CACS would like to thank the Sacramento community for the outstanding support of this first historic account of the Chinese in Sacramento .

CACS Cares for Kids

On September 23, 2009, Dr. David Young, Candice Yoakam, and Jennifer Young delivered school supplies to local Sacramento area elementray schools. CACS worked in partnership with the Sacramento Chinese Community Service Center (SCCSC) in selecting these schools to receive much needed school supplies and sports equipment.

The students were excited to receive supplies such as writing paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, pencils, dictionaries, kickballs, footballs, soccer balls, and even some hula hoops!
CACS Cares For Kids program’s goal is to assist primary school-age students and families by providing quality instruction and learning opportunities for children. Over the past several years, CACS has donated over $50,000 worth of school supplies and sports equipment to local area schools in low-income neighborhoods.
